Unplug

Family Worship Challenge: “Unplug”
Scripture reading: Psalm 8

Challenge: Take an entire evening away from anything that you plug in (or that has batteries). Turn off all your cell phones, turn off the TVs and the computers and just be together. You might choose to get out of the house and go to a park or the beach. (go somewhere that you are not likely to be distracted by other people you know)
**a fun take on this for families would be to actually go to your breaker box in your house and turn off all the power. Light some candles, pull out the flashlights and pretend like your power went out.

Action Steps:

1. Take five minutes and just be silent. (have someone keep time … it will feel like forever) For those with small children, make a game out of it. Then ask yourselves this question: Where do you see and hear God? (both right now at the present moment and in your life currently – this week and month)
2. Have everyone think of something that they have never verbally thanked God for. Have everyone share it out loud. Let the discussion go from there.
3. At the end of the night, talk about what it was like to be away from your phone, TV, and computer. Talk about what you learned and how you would like to apply that to your lives.
